Trump administration’s big decision: Massive dismissal in Voice of America begins

US President Donald Trump’s administration has launched massive removal of Voice of America (VOA) and other US funded media institutions.

Hundreds of employees were informed by email on Sunday that their jobs would be terminated from March 31.

These dismissals came when the Trump administration targeted severe budget deductions to the US Agency for Global Media (USAGM) through an executive order.

The company operates broadcasting companies such as Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, Radio Free Asia, Radio Firda and Al -Harar, which provide journalistic services in countries where free media are banned.

According to sources, most of the dismissed employees were working in non -English services of VOA, including several non -US citizens, who can now face visa issues.

After the dismissal, many broadcast services have been suspended and some are being broadcast only on music, as staff is not available for programming.

According to the Trump administration, these measures are part of a policy to make the US government smaller and effective, including reducing government spending for tax deductions.

The White House said in a statement that taxpayers would not have to spend more money on “leftist propaganda”, while critics say the move is like an attack on free media.
